How to Apply Eye Medication

Ask your veterinarian if the medication your dog needs comes in drop form (drops are easier to apply than ointments)

Tip your dog's nose upward so your dog will reflexively look down, which may give you a better target when dropping in the drops or squeezing in the ointment.

Bring your hand over the top of your dog's head from behind (instead of coming straight at its face) so the animal is less likely to draw away or blink when you apply the medication.

Remember, you typically need only get one drop or 1/4 inch of ointment into your dog's eye.

Be patient, neither one of you enjoy doing this, so make it fast and easy for your loved pet.
