Class Descriptions

Puppy (schedule)

Puppy Kindergarten (schedule)
For puppies 8 weeks to 15 weeks old.

This is the most important development time of your puppy's life. Each week your puppy will be exposed to many different sounds and experiences as well as socialized with other puppies and people. You will learn how to teach your puppy obedience using in his/her natural curiosity with positive motivational techniques. You will learn the leadership skills to develop a life-long bond with your puppy. We will also have time to discuss how to manage your puppy's behavior problems, health, nutrition, and care. At the end of each class the final reward for your puppy's hard work will be puppy play time!

Jessie

Total Puppy (schedule)
For puppies 4 months to 6 months old. Puppy Kindergarten a plus.

This class combines more advanced puppy obedience with problem solving and agility. The first half of each class teaches basic heeling, sits, downs, stays, and fast recalls. the second half of each class introduces a trick and puppy sized agility equipment. the agility Training helps build your puppy's confidence and coordination. At the end of each class the final reward for your puppy's hard work will be puppy play time!

Performance Puppy (schedule)
For puppies 6 months to 18 months old.
Prerequisite: Puppy or basic obedience class.

This class will lay the groundwork for those serious about agility competition. The focus will be on control and teamwork. You’ll be teaching your puppy foundational skills for building drive, impulse control, preparing your puppy for obstacle performance readiness, and most importantly building a relationship with your puppy. They will be introduced to balance balls, tip boards, and a few agility obstacles.

Class size is limited to ten puppies.

Misty

Obedience (schedule)

Basic Obedience I - For dogs at least 6 months old
Only one handler for the entire session.
In this class, you and your dog will learn basic obedience and good manners. You will learn to train your dog basic heeling, stays (both sit and down), come when called and help you develop leadership skills.

Basic Obedience II - For dogs at least 6 months old
Completion of Basic Obedience I required. Only one handler for the entire session.
This class builds on the skills you and your dog learned in Basic Obedience I. You will continue to work on heeling, extended stays, longer comes, as well as learning an exercise each week for the American Kennel Club's Canine Good citizen (CGC) test. The CGC test is designed to teach responsible dog ownership and certify that dogs have the training and demeanor to be reliable, well-behaved members of their families and communities. Upon completing this session you will be given the opportunity to take the CGC test should you choose.

Intermediate Obedience
Completion of Basic II is required to enter Intermediate. You will enhance the skills previously learned in Basic I and II Obedience. Heeling sequences will graduate to off leash. Time will increase for sit and down stays. Formal recalls with finishes, figure eight exercise, and stand for exam will be introduced.

Rally Obedience (schedule)

Come learn the newest form of Obedience. It offers both dog and handler an experience that's both fun and energizing. It's designed with the companion dog in mind, but it can still be challenging at the higher levels.

Introduction to Rally Obedience
Must have completed 24 weeks of Obedience. Your dog must be able to walk on a loose lead on handler's left, have dog-to-human attention, know sit at heel, know sit at front, and know how to finish.

Rally Run Thrus
Including signs for both AKC and APDT.

Therapy Dog Training (schedule)

Therapy Dog Classes
Must have Canine Good Citizen Certificate. Dog must be able to walk on a loose lead. Dog must have dog-to-human attention. Dog must be able to work on a plain buckle collar.

Agility (schedule)

Beginning Agility - For dogs at least 1 year old and with 24 weeks of formal obedience training (see above for Basic Obedience).
Introduction to agility obstacles with an emphasis on safety.

Intermediate Agility - For dogs that have completed Beginning Agility but are not ready to compete.
Working on control, sequencing and contacts.

Advanced Agility - For dogs that are competing at the Novice to Excellent levels.
Working on speed, precision, and timing.

Just for Fun Agility (schedule) - Must have completed 24 weeks of adult obedience

This class is all about having fun with agility without the stress of thinking you have to compete. Obstacles are only part of agility. The other part is the teamwork between you and your dog. You'll learn to communicate with your dog, using commands and body language that enable you to directly your dog to various obstacles. Think safety first when handling your dog. It's okay to have your dog on a leash. Every dog is different, handling has to be adapted to each one. We want this to be a fun, fun, fun class. Students will learn how to teach their dog to correctly and safely do each obstacle.
